For over half a century, General Truck Body has built and sustained a fine reputation for providing creative solutions to the transportation and service industries.

General Truck Body was founded in the early 1900’s as a blacksmith shop where Boris Levitch put shoes on horses; then began building horse-drawn carriages. When motorized vehicles came into being, General Truck Body evolved with the times and began constructing bodies for this new mode of transportation. Early customers were Montgomery Wards, Safeway Stores and Campbell Dairies.

Today, General Truck Body has expanded its offerings through two divisions located in Houston, Texas and a third division located in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex. The Custom Manufacturing Division offers turn-key efficiencies in handling product development from concept through completion in the context of truck body manufacturing. Our approach to design engineering blends the scientific with the practical to ensure the best results for our customer.
